Electronic Bleeding Noir
2010 – Present
Red Wound is a modern day international musical collaboration between two artful lost souls. In early 2009 Rowye (programmer) and Denise Cumor (vocals) collided into each other on the Internet in the gaming guises of trampy elves and soon after became scheming fiendish friends. With Rowye in Barcelona and Denise in Baltimore, they had never met in person or even spoken beyond online chatting, the music became there way of communicating. Four years, after a marriage and obtaining a green card they have been working on their second full length EP. Red Wound is a moody and sensual exploration into the darkness of the love torn psyche. Denise’s sultry vocals weave smoothly into Rowye’s brooding musical arrangements, creating theatrical yet lush stories with a few edgy surprises. The Red Wound experience live is a vision set to include performance art (hooping, poi, hook & rope suspension, belly dancers), video & theatrical lighting. Red Wound has performed at various festivals to include Starwood, THE Beltane, Blue Ridge Beltane, Primal Arts Festival and Parafest as well as Moraima, a gallery & café in Barcelona. They reside off grid in their humble “tiny home” in Northwest, PA.

Music is and has always been an altar, a place away that I manifest through creative juices. Sometimes the portal is inviting and easy to slip into and other times I bang at the door pleading for the muse to let me in. But once in, the experience is always transformative and healing. It all began at a young age with dancing in my mom’s prom gowns to the Grease soundtrack, watching with awed enamor as my parents jitterbugged around our living room, praying at my father’s cinder block shelves filled with hundreds of albums, choreographing dance numbers with the kids in my neighborhood, playing flute in my school band and singing in the chorus, dancing at school talent shows, taking tap and jazz at Bonnie Tinto’s Dancin’ Place and eventually choreographing Anything Goes in my junior year of high school. I can tell you I was no prodigy, I had very little training, horrible vomitus stage fright but I was compelled by my raw passion for music and performing, and always devoted to creating the ritual magic of the show.
